Excellence through Effort & Enjoyment
Be Kind…Be Safe…Be Responsible

RSHE Policy updated

We have recently updated our Relationships, Sex and Health Education policy.

The most recent statutory guidance for schools states:

The Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education (England) Regulations 2019, made under sections 34 and 35 of the Children and Social Work Act 2017, make Relationships Education compulsory for all pupils receiving primary education.

We teach RSHE through our Jigsaw PSHE programme, and through our Science curriculum, in a planned, sequential and cumulative way.   This is always approached in ways that are appropriate to the age and stage of children.

Our updated policy, the statutory guidance and other information can be found here.

The policy outlines the teaching sequence and the context in which the teaching will happen.  We are committed to approaching this aspect of the curriculum in a sensitive way, with the intention of equipping the children for the world around them and the life ahead of them.  There are only a few lessons, from Y4 to Y6, which parents have the right to withdraw their children from.  These are also indicated within the policy.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do contact us and we will be glad to help.
