This week in Maths we are looking at fractions. We are finally coming to an end of a very long unit. Please click on the link below this paragraph to access the White Rose home learning videos. Make sure you are on (Summer term – Week 7 (w/c 8th June)where you will be learning about equivalent fractions and comparing fractions. Watch the videos and then attempt the activity sheets attached to the bottom of this blog. Remember there are also these units on Mathletics for you to attempt if you wish.
Same as last week, please keep working through the new Talk For Writing booklet. The link is below if you need it.
Spellings this week are looking at the rule words ending with a /zhuh/ sound, spelt with ‘sure’. Please let me know what you get in your home learning tests to earn extra house points. See below for the list of words.
In school, the Year 3 and other Key Stage 2 Key Worker children will be doing a brand-new story as their class novel, The Ickabog by J.K. Rowling. This story is being released completely free, online if you follow the link below. There is also an illustration competition running which is linked on the website and open until the 17thJuly. This is a chance to have your drawing included in the book when it is printed later this year which would be amazing! Let me know if you have a go and I'd love to hear what you think about the book. I am going to try to read it too.
Northamptonshire Virtual School Games
As set last week. The Northamptonshire Virtual School Games has begun and we will be joining schools from all over the county in taking part in a series of weekly sporting challenges over the next couple of months.
All you need to do is watch the challenge videos once they are released Virtual School Games website (www.northamptonshiresport.org/school-games), Facebook or Twitter at 10am Monday morning and then have a go at home or school.
Once you have completed the challenges, log your attempts as many times as you complete them on the Virtual School Games website. For every challenge logged, the school earns Participation Points which are then used to crown the weekly champions. You can also upload your photos and videos attempting the challenges for the chance to win prizes for yourself as well.
As an extra incentive 20 house points will be awarded for each attempt. Northamptonshire Sport will inform me of each attempt and I will update the house point totals.
The project set last week was a mini beasts project. We would like you to work on this until the 1st July. We have given you a range of activities for you to attempt, you might choose to do all of them or only a few. Make sure you email in your completed tasks to earn house points. Please see last week’s blog for the activity sheet.
If you have any questions on any of these suggested activities, please email me on firstname.lastname@example.org . I hope you all have a great week.
