Excellence through Effort & Enjoyment
Be Kind…Be Safe…Be Responsible

History of Boughton Primary

Boughton Primary School has been a standalone academy since 2012. The school was rated "Good" in the last four inspections, the most recent of which was in 2023.

The school is one-form entry, with a maximum of 28 pupils in each class.

SCHOOL HISTORY

Boughton Primary School was first established in 1841 by the Howard-Vyse family as a Church of England School, attached to the local Parish Church. Almost a century later the Local Authority opened the present building in Moulton Lane.

In 2015, the school completed an extensive expansion and increased in size from 5 to 7 classrooms. Reception Year and Year 1 have outdoor learning areas, we have 2 library areas, 2 group rooms (for working in small groups) and have a newly installed Kitchen / DT area.

Our unusual, circular, hall was opened in 1994 due to the generosity of the Robert Horne Foundation.

The hall is beautifully decorated with a full-size mural, featuring work by pupils who were at the school during 2015 to 2017.  This was the culmination of a year-long project with an artist-in-residence, Jason Wilsher-Mills.  The images were created by the children on ipads and Jason manipulated them to create a fully immersive mural.
