Excellence through Effort & Enjoyment
'Kind words, Kind deeds, Kind thoughts'

The Orbit of the Earth and Moon

On Thursday, the Year 3 children learned about orbits in the solar system.

Our topic this term is Space. We have been learning lots about our Solar System and last week we focused on how the planets and moons orbit. The children took on the role of the Earth orbiting the Sun and the Moon orbiting the Earth in an active learning experience. We discussed how long the Moon takes to orbit the Earth, how long the Earth takes to do a full rotation on its axis and how long the Earth takes to orbit the Sun.
