Term 6 Week 4 22nd June 2020
I have set some tasks on Mathletics on area, perimeter and volume to coincide with the White Rose Maths lessons this week.
I have created a Mathletics Blog to celebrate the whole school's successes on Mathletics. I will announce the top 10 participators in the whole school and the child, who has achieved the most points, in each year group.
We have 4 White Rose lessons this week. A Friday Family Challenge will be uploaded on Friday. The challenge gets increasingly difficult, all the way up to KS3 and 4 maths. Below is the link to the lessons and teaching slides:
I have attached the worksheets for these lessons at the bottom of this post.
We are ready to start a new Talk4Writing unit in school. I have chosen this one on Monsters:
In school we will be aiming to complete one activity from it per day. Some activities will take longer than others (check out the Year 6 Blog to see how much we managed to complete at school last week).
This week's Goodnight Mister Tom is just one chapter as it is a long one!
Spellings this week are words ending in -ible. Try writing these into sentences to make sure you also understand the meaning of these words.
I will update the Science activities once I have taught them at school and know how much we have got through.
Lesson 1 - Inheritence - I have attached the Power Point with worksheets for activity 1, 2 and 3. There is also an extra activity that the children can do with pictures of their mother and father.
Lesson 2 - Adaptation I have attached the Power Point and the activity.
We have also been checking on our bread investigation from last week - we have lots of mould! We will complete this investigation at the end of this week or the beginning of next, depending on time restraints. That lesson is here:
Lesson 6 - Conclusion for our microorganism investigation. We will look through the Power Point, complete our individual conclusions and round off our Living Things unit of work.
Northamptonshire Virtual School Games
The Northamptonshire Virtual School Games has begun and we will be joining schools from all over the county in taking part in a series of weekly sporting challenges over the next couple of months.
All you need to do is watch the challenge videos once they are released Virtual School Games website (www.northamptonshiresport.org/school-games), Facebook or Twitter at 10am Monday morning and then have a go at home or school.
Once you have completed the challenges, log your attempts as many times as you complete them on the Virtual School Games website. For every challenge logged, the school earns Participation Points which are then used to crown the weekly champions. You can also upload your photos and videos attempting the challenges for the chance to win prizes for yourself as well.
As an extra incentive 20 house points will be awarded for each attempt. Northamptonshire Sport will informed me of each attempt and I will update the house point totals.
Find below a grid with some suggested tasks for our KS2 topic of Minibeasts.
Remember that I would love to see your work, send it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
