Excellence through Effort & Enjoyment
Be Kind…Be Safe…Be Responsible

Learning Journey Week 3

Find out what we've been up to during the third week of term.

This week we have been following the children's interest in animals. We have a vets role play area, where lots of animals have been cared for and appointments written down. We have seen more children engaging in role play this week, which is so beneficial for their language development.

The children have been choosing to write down questions about their favourite animals, so we can find out lots of facts about animals.

We have been reading the story of the Highway Rat and have learnt actions as a class, to help us remember the story and the key features of the story structure, which will help us when we have our own 'Helicopter Stories' scribed.

The Highway Rat paid us a visit this week, leaving us lots of messages to read. We were so impressed by the children's sound recognition and blending skills, with lots of children having a go at reading a sentence independently.

In maths, we have continued to look at adding, focusing on number bonds to 10. The children have been learning about the number 'best friends', who need to be together to make 10.
