Excellence through Effort & Enjoyment
Be Kind…Be Safe…Be Responsible

Week 1 Activities

Today is the first day of a new term and I should be getting ready to welcome you all back and hear what you've been up to for two weeks but things are a little bit different this year!  It's still lovely hearing from so many of you, please keep sending through your pictures and messages, I miss you all!

I have attached this week's spellings which all have the prefix inter.  There's a little game you can play with them but, more importantly, make sure you understand the definitions and can use them in a sentence.  This Thursday is St. George's Day and there is a comprehension with three levels of difficulty attached.  If you'd rather do your own research on St George and find out information in a more creative way then go for it!

Maths this week is a recap of rounding, again something we did in Autumn and an area which most Year 4 classes find challenging.  In Year 4 we should be able to round to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000.  Often understanding the HIgh 5 rule is ok, but working out the numbers it could round to are the challenge.  There are some practice sheets attached with DeveIoping, Expected and Greater Depth differentitation which you can see from the code at the bottom of each page.  I found a nice online rounding game called "Rounding Rocket"  on the Top Marks website which is free to access.  You should try to make it more challenging by removing the number line, if you can.  There is also an additional activity attached for rounding to 1,000.  I have also opened up rounding in Mathletics, even if you have completed it before have another go to remind you.

There's a lot here this week, have a go at what you can, if you are well enough.  Enjoy the sunshine and keep safe.
