Excellence through Effort & Enjoyment
'Kind words, Kind deeds, Kind thoughts'

Year 3 Coding

Coding with Scratch

Last term in Year 3 we did 'unplugged' computing, where we learnt some of the concepts and terminology linked with computer science without turning on a computer.

This term we have started applying those concepts. We looked at the program Scratch and looked at the layout of the Scratch screen. Ask us about the stage, script, sprite and block sections of the screen. We talked about the terminology we already know, like algorithms, debugging and tinkering.

To learn more about how Scratch works we 'tinkered'. We created new backgrounds and created new sprites and gave those sprites an action by sequencing blocks of code.
