Excellence through Effort & Enjoyment
Be Kind…Be Safe…Be Responsible

Our Second Week at School

We began our second week in Reception by sharing our Welcome Boxes. Some of the children have already shared their boxes in front of the class and we have been impressed by how confidently the children have spoken. The children have loved getting to know each other by looking at each other's photos, drawings and toys.

The children have been allowed to go in the digging area and mud kitchen this week. All the children know they need to wear their wetsuits and wellies and we have been getting to grips with putting on the tricky suits.

Midway through the week a group of children became very interested in finding Minibeasts. So we put out hunting sheets for the children to identify and tick off the insects they spotted under plant pots and logs. We had lots of discussions about looking after the insects and what sort of habitats they need.

This week we have been reading the story, 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea' and on Friday we received a video message from the tiger, who told us he wanted to eat all of our snack. In the outdoor area we discovered paw prints and discarded food wrappers, including a tub of tiger food. The children were really engaged and thought of lots of super ideas to stop the tiger eating our snack including: building traps, making food for him and writing signs telling him he has to share the food and he can't eat our snack.
