Excellence through Effort & Enjoyment
Be Kind…Be Safe…Be Responsible

Year 5 So Far...

It's been a few weeks since we welcomed all of our new Year 5s back to school.

Although things aren't quite what we're used to, Year 5 have been fantastic and have been showing me all that they can do and have settled in really well.

There has been an abundance of creativity in Class Five these past few weeks...

In English we are looking at writing our own non-chronological  reports about mythical animals.

Not only have the children been sharing some great ideas and vocabulary, they have also created their own animals and given them characteristics. This week we drew and labelled our new creatures, I have selected some to share with you.

In art we have been learning different sketching skills. Last we completed a project called 'Picture the Poet'

We first watched Michael Rosen's 'Chocolate Cake' and then the children were asked to create a portrait of Michael using a single pencil line. This was tricky, it was very difficult to remember not to take our pencils off the page! Once we had drawn our poet, we then wrote phrases and words from the poem, 'Chocolate Cake', on tracing paper so that we could still see Michael below.

I think they have turned out fantastically, my favourite art pieces so far this year!

And lastly, we have been looking at propaganda in WW1 this week, even creating our own posters. We were trying to persuade the people of Britain to join the war effort.
